EU Court will rule on PMOI listing on Thursday
The Court of First Instance of the European Communities (CFI) will issue its verdict at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 4. The court will rule on the designation of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) in the EU list of terrorist organizations. The ruling concerns the July 15, 2008, decision of the EU Council of Ministers on a proposal by France.
Following the ruling of the High Court and the Court of Appeals in Britain and approval of both Houses of Parliament in that country to remove the PMOI from the list of proscribed organizations, the EU had no justification to maintain the organization in the list. The Council, in a totally unlawful measure on a request by France, decided to maintain the PMOI on the list.
In a hearing today at the branch seven of the CFI, the judges heard the both sides and will issue its verdict tomorrow.
In today's hearing, in addition to lawyers of the EU Council, the lawyers of France also participated as the third party in favor of the Council.
A large number of European and Iranian personalities will attend the court session tomorrow when the judges announce their verdict.
